Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on a permanent basis, based in the Southwest. Role Summary We are seeking a Quantity Surveyor with strong NEC4 contract experience to support the commercial delivery of Power Transmission & Distribution (T&D) projects across Southwest England. The role will focus on managing costs, contractual compliance, and commercial risk on complex electrical infrastructure schemes, including substations, overhead lines, underground cabling, and associated civil works. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered in accordance with NEC4 contractual principles, driving proactive cost management, early warning processes, and collaborative working. Key Responsibilities · Commercial management of Power T&D projects under NEC4 contracts · Administer NEC4 contract mechanisms, including Early Warnings, Compensation Events, and Change Control · Prepare and manage cost plans, forecasts, and cash flow reports · Assess and agree Defined Cost and target cost where applicable · Prepare, submit, and negotiate Compensation Event quotations · Measure, value, and certify works completed, including applications for payment · Manage subcontractor procurement and administration under NEC4 or NEC-aligned terms · Support risk reduction meetings and proactive commercial risk management · Prepare and agree final accounts in line with NEC4 requirements · Provide commercial advice to project managers and engineers · Ensure compliance with company procedures, client standards, and regulatory requirements Requirements · Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within Power, Utilities, Energy, or Major Infrastructure · Strong working knowledge of NEC4 · Solid understanding of Defined Cost, Schedule of Cost Components, and target cost mechanisms · Strong negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills · Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities effectively · Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across the South West Qualifications · Degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or similar · MRICS or working towards chartership (desirable) Our Company Rubicon Consulting is a Talent management consultancy which helps you to optimise business performance and competitive advantage by choosing the right people first time
