Job Description
Role Overview\n\nWe are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial delivery of rail infrastructure projects across a diverse portfolio of renewals, enhancements, and major programmes. This role will suit a commercially astute professional with strong rail sector experience and a solid understanding of NEC contracts, cost control, and stakeholder management within a regulated rail environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nManage and administer NEC (primarily NEC3/NEC4) contracts across rail infrastructure schemes\n\nProvide accurate cost planning, forecasting, and financial reporting throughout the project lifecycle\n\nPrepare and assess compensation events, variations, and change control submissions\n\nSupport procurement activities including tender documentation, bid evaluation, and subcontract management\n\nMonitor project budgets, identify commercial risks, and implement mitigation strategies\n\nProduce cost reports, earned value analysis, and cash flow forecasts for client review\n\nProvide commercial advice to project managers and engineering teams\n\nEnsure compliance with contractual, governance, and rail industry standards\n\nEngage effectively with clients, contractors, and key stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships\n\nEssential Experience\n\nDemonstrable experience working as a Quantity Surveyor on UK rail projects\n\nStrong working knowledge of NEC contracts (essential)\n\nExperience working on Network Rail frameworks, major rail enhancements, or renewals programmes\n\nProven track record in cost management, change control, and financial reporting\n\nUnderstanding of rail assurance, governance, and project lifecycle processes\n\nExperience working in multidisciplinary project environments\n\nQualifications\n\nDegree qualified in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline\n\nWorking towards or already achieved MRICS, MCICES or equivalent professional accreditation\n\nCSCS card (as required for site-based work)\n\nSkills & Attributes\n\nStrong analytical and numerical capability\n\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills\n\nCommercially aware with the ability to challenge constructively\n\nProactive, detail-oriented, and delivery-focused\n\nAbility to manage multiple workstreams within a fast-paced rail environment\n\nWe are an equal opportunity employer and value in our company.
