Job Description

We Build Recruitment is proud to partner with one of the UK’s premier specialist contractors in the high-end joinery and commercial fit-out sector. Our client is a market leader known for delivering bespoke, handcrafted interiors for the financial, luxury retail, and hospitality industries.

Due to a strong pipeline of prestigious projects, they are looking for a commercially driven Quantity Surveyor to join their team. This is a unique role that bridges the gap between high-tech manufacturing and large-scale site installation.

The Role

Working on behalf of our client, you will take full commercial ownership of bespoke joinery packages and full-trade fit-out projects. You will be responsible for ensuring project profitability while maintaining the high standards of craftsmanship the company is known for.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Management: Lead the commercial lifecycle of projects from pre-construction to final account settlement.
  • Cost Control: Prepare detailed cost plans, CVRs, and cash flow forecasts to be reported to the senior management team.
  • Variations: Identify and price project variations, ensuring all changes in scope are captured and negotiated with the main contractor or client.
  • Procurement: Manage the procurement of specialist materials (timber, stone, glass) and subcontract packages, ensuring best value without compromising quality.
  • Workshop Liaison: Collaborate with the internal production team to monitor manufacturing costs and material efficiencies within their 18,000 sq. ft. facility.

Candidate Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Industry Experience: A minimum of 3+ years of experience as a QS within bespoke joinery, shopfitting, or interior fit-out.
  • Contractual Knowledge: Proficiency in administering JCT and NEC contracts.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to perform accurate take-offs from architectural drawings and CAD designs.
  • Communication: A professional approach to negotiating with Tier 1 contractors and high-net-worth clients.
  • Qualifications: A Degree or HND in Quantity Surveying (or a comparable construction discipline).
  • Driving License: Full UK license is essential for site visits.
