A leading main contractor in the Crawley area is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a freelance basis. This is an excellent opportunity to play a central role in the commercial delivery of a variety of construction projects, working closely with project managers, subcontractors, and supply chain partners.The commercial team is key to the successful delivery of projects across multiple sectors. In this role, you will support procurement, commercial management, and contractual processes on a range of construction projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement & Cost PlanningPrepare and quantify materials, labour, and subcontractor requirementsSupport procurement and subcontractor appointment processesEnsure compliance with company commercial procedures and frameworksCollaborate with project managers and site teams to ensure cost efficiency and project viabilityMaintain adherence to project specifications, programmes, and quality standardsCost Control & ReportingMonitor and report on project costs, including variations and site valuationsProcess contractor, subcontractor, and consultant orders and paymentsManage variation orders and dayworksConduct monthly site valuations and cost reportingUndertake the Cost Value Reconciliation (CVR) processProduce cost-to-complete forecasts and final account projectionsExperience & RequirementsPrevious experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Commercial Surveyor within main contracting or general constructionStrong knowledge of Building Regulations, Health & Safety requirements, and commercial construction practicesRelevant construction or commercial qualification (e.g., RICS, CIOB)Strong stakeholder management skills with internal teams, clients, and subcontractorsIT literate, ideally with experience using COINS, Asta, or similar commercial systemsPackage & BenefitsCompetitive salary and benefits packagePrivate healthcareLife insurancePension scheme with employer contributionsProfessional development and training opportunitiesThis is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established main contractor delivering a wide range of high-quality construction projects across Crawley & Sussex .
