Quantity Surveyor

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor for one of our clients who are one of the UK's most well known construction companies. They need someone to take commercial and financial ownership of a portfolio of digital infrastructure projects in the Hampshire area. In this role, you will ensure projects are delivered efficiently, cost-effectively, and in line with contractual, commercial, and legal obligations.

Working closely with project teams, you will manage valuations, cost forecasts, subcontractor accounts, and change control, ensuring accurate contract administration and reporting throughout the project lifecycle. You will also play a key role in financial risk management, identifying opportunities to optimise project profitability and deliver value to clients.

Building and maintaining strong client and subcontractor relationships will be central to the role, supporting repeat business and long-term project delivery. You will contribute to pre- and post-contract cost studies, support estimating, and manage subcontractors from procurement through to final account.

You will also oversee claims, recoveries, and financial close-out of additional works, ensuring all records are maintained to organisational standards.

Key Responsibilities

Take ownership of commercial management across digital infrastructure projects

Prepare and manage valuations, cost forecasts, and final accounts

*

Administer contracts, variations, and change control procedures for main contracts and subcontracts

*

Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies

*

Manage subcontractor procurement, payments, and commercial performance, ensuring conditions are aligned with main contracts

*

Support estimating and tender submissions with detailed cost analysis and pre-contract advice

*

Produce monthly cost value reports, margin analysis, and consolidated management reporting

*

Forecast contract turnover, margin, and commercial performance

*

Identify financial risks, including non-recoverable prolongation costs and LAD liabilities

*

Ensure site teams comply with contractual obligations and maintain contemporaneous records to maximise recovery

Requirements

*

HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction, or related discipline

*

Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within construction or telecommunications projects

*

Knowledge of NEC3 / NEC4 contracts and mechanisms

*

Experience managing subcontractors and supply chains

*

Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple projects concurrently

*

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

*

Proactive approach with strong commercial awareness

*

Willingness to obtain DV security clearance (mandatory)

*

Previous experience on Defence or MoD projects desirable but not essential
