Location - Hatfield, Hertfordshire (Hybrid role)

£70,000 - £90,000 / year + benefits + car allowance

A Senior Estimator is required to join a rail contractor on a permanent basis close to Hatfield. As the Senior Estimator, you will be responsible for leading estimates for civil engineering and drainage work and working with tender teams in order to secure sufficient work. Responsibilities include leading, mentoring, and developing estimators to assist with submitting tender (including identifying opportunities and risks for each project), undertaking estimates, liaising with stakeholders, maintaining tender files with the ultimate goal of winning work to meet the company growth targets. You will also be responsible for providing support to site teams relating to estimates and key assumptions, alongside obtaining feedback on estimations based on actual project cost.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of working on tenders (between £1,000 and up to £3m) within rail drainage, utilities, and civils or a related industry. You will also be confident at dealing with and collaborating with different stakeholders, have excellent writing and oral presentation skills, be able to ensure that all tender submissions are both feasible and profitable, and be willing to perform site visits as required. The ideal candidate will have progressed from a site-based role to estimating, with experience working for an SME on the railway.
