We are looking for a Regional Head of Financial Institutions, based in London.

Impact You Will Have

At Allianz Commercial, we combine specialist expertise and global reach with high levels of AA‐rated underwriting capacity to industry‑specific exposures. This allows us to establish a reputation as leaders in some of the largest and most complex Financial Institutions (FI) risks in the market. Reporting to the Regional Head of Financial Lines, UK, you will deliver clear underwriting strategies for the regional team, own selected key and large accounts, and share your expertise while training staff.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the strategy for the FI portfolio for the UK region within the framework of the global strategy for the Line of Business.
  • Develop targeting strategy for new opportunities in the FI market.
  • Manage a team of underwriters with different levels of expertise.
  • Collaborate with relevant internal stakeholders (Underwriting, Operations, Actuarial, Finance, etc.) to enable delivery of underwriting targets.
  • Underwrite large new and renewal accounts to meet top and bottom line targets.
  • Negotiate participation, pricing, and terms and conditions with brokers.
  • Underwrite and take referrals in line with FI governance framework (Underwriting Authorities, global MSU, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules, and Principles).
  • Proactively support acquisition of new business and retention of existing business, including client and broker negotiations where necessary.
  • Positively represent Allianz Commercial externally to the market.

What You’ll Bring To The Role

  • 7‑10 years of experience underwriting profitable business in the FI segment of large corporate international insurance.
  • Preferably, people‑management experience.
  • Ideally, CII qualified or equivalent, or working towards it.
  • Recognised relationships with clients and brokers at the peer group level, well established within the reference market.
  • Specialised understanding of regional/national FI insurance markets and the competitor landscape.
  • Strong negotiation skills, achieving the best outcome for your portfolio while maintaining positive business relationships.
  • Ability to leverage data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective.
  • Good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework.
  • Ability to design, develop, and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues across various departments, fostering a team‑oriented environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in integrating AI‑driven insights into your work to optimise outcomes and support broader organisational goals.
  • Fluent English skills.
