Job Title: Regional Support Manager (North West Region) Location: Stoke‑On‑Trent, Crewe, Cheshire (and surrounding North West area) Compensation: £55,000 per annum + £5,000 car allowance About Harbour Healthcare: Family‑run business with over 42 care homes across the UK, growing year by year. The Regional Support Manager will support any home within the region and travel flexibly as required. They will report to the Regional Manager. The role involves working closely with the Regional Manager and each home’s management team to ensure action plans are completed, improvements are implemented, and quality standards enhanced. Primary responsibility is to help the region achieve a “minimum” good CQC outcome in all homes, championing quality throughout. They will support homes to meet financial budgets and manage operational issues. This is a hands‑on role requiring practical operational support to homes when needed. The Regional Support Manager will manage or support homes where the Manager is absent due to vacancy, leave, or sickness. They will support new Managers and those experiencing operational challenges. In the absence of a Regional Manager, they may deputise for that role.
Principal Role & Accountabilities
Deliver elements of the Service Improvement Plan as agreed with the line manager. Support implementation and ongoing management of new systems (e.g., EMAR, electronic care planning). Lead, direct, supervise, and support employees within the region. Manage the region efficiently within available resources. Support recruitment in line with Harbour policy and procedure. Provide induction training and supervision to employees as required. Promote effective communication within the service, championing key elements such as Stand‑Up meetings and Resident of the Day. Address HR issues, performance, probation, and disciplinary matters (informal or formal). Ensure the emotional, spiritual, physical, medical, and material needs of residents are recognised, assessed, and met, including regular reviews and care plan formulation. Involve residents in decision‑making about activities, lifestyle, and home matters where possible. Assist with building maintenance and equipment matters. Support implementation of Health and Safety systems (risk assessments, fire records, COSHH files, etc.). Ensure mandatory training requirements are met and up‑to‑date training records are maintained for all employees.
