Reliability Specialist Location: CapenhurstDepartment: UCP OperationsReports to: UCP Plant Reliability ManagerRates: £45-50 per hour, umbrellaSummary The UCP Reliability Specialist plays a vital role in supporting the Plant Reliability Manager to deliver the plant reliability programme. This position is responsible for driving the reliability improvement strategy and advising operational teams on reliability matters. The role involves implementing global and site-specific reliability standards on plant, monitoring asset performance, and leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE). The specialist will work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to identify and resolve asset performance issues, lead multi-functional reliability improvement teams, and influence capital investment priorities. A key focus is fostering a strong reliability culture through the consistent application of reliability tools and coaching to improve data quality and operational practices.Key Responsibilities Analyse plant performance to ensure systems meet design intent and business needs, driving OEE towards world-class levels.Promote and embed a reliability culture across the organisation from design through to maintenance.Support and chair reliability steering committees, driving coordinated action plans to improve plant throughput and performance.Provide reliability assessment support for new equipment procurement, including FMEA-based maintenance and spares recommendations.Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to diagnose and resolve asset degradation and identify improvement opportunities.Manage change for obsolete equipment and ensure critical spares provision.Lead reliability improvement teams to reduce operational losses and improve asset reliability.Work autonomously while escalating issues appropriately and contribute to the development of global reliability standards. Required Skills Degree in a relevant engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical or Control & Instrumentation).Chartered membership of an appropriate Engineering Institute.Minimum 6 years' experience in engineering within a highly regulated industry (e.g. Oil, Gas, Nuclear, Chemicals).Proven experience in reliability analysis and continuous improvement techniques such as RCM, RCA, and FMEA.Strong understanding of plant equipment, systems, and processes.Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills.Ability to lead and motivate cross-functional teams.Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to driving results.Competent in coaching and facilitating cultural change.Ability to work collaboratively and decisively in a complex environment.
