Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Research Programme Manager to drive our global research portfolio that spans basic and translational research through to clinical studies and therapy development. This role is both strategic and hands-on. The postholder will connect scientific discovery to therapeutic application in partnership with a global consortium of scientific and clinical leaders.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an early-career translational science professional such as a recent post-doc to move beyond singular research projects and take ownership of research operations and patient-centred solutions in the rare disease space. The Foundation operates as the hub in the entire translation pathway. You will gain a unique perspective of the entire drug development journey and serve as a vital contributor every step of the way. Come join us and make a tangible difference in the rare disease community.
Key Responsibilities
1. Research and project management
- Manage Foundation-funded research projects, monitoring study progress, budgets, and milestones to ensure alignment with our core objectives.
- Serve as primary liaison between academic investigators, clinical collaborators and industry partners.
2. Translational strategy and operations
- Identify and evaluate new research opportunities with high translational potential.
- Support both Foundation initiatives and projects led by our consortium of investigators in navigating logistical, operational, and regulatory hurdles to accelerate the translation from lab to clinic.
3. Clinical and regulatory support
- Support the planning and operational management of natural history studies.
- Collaborate with our patient engagement team to ensure that studies are patient-focused and data-driven, informing future clinical development and study designs.
4. Stakeholder Advocacy
- Foster collaboration across a multi-disciplinary network of scientists, clinicians, and patient families.
- Communicate complex scientific findings in a clear, impactful way to internal and external stakeholders, our patient community, and the public.
About You
Essential Skills and Experience
- PhD or equivalent experience in biomedical sciences or a related field.
- A good understanding of basic and translational research, research operations, or clinical study designs.
- Critical thinker with strong problem-solving ability.
- Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple complex projects and competing priorities while maintaining a high level of operational detail.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, engaging confidently with both leading experts and lay stakeholders.
- An adaptable, entrepreneurial and “can-do” mindset, working both collaboratively and independently in a lean multi-disciplinary team.
- Patient-centred, empathetic, and discreet, with a deep commitment to the mission of improving outcomes in the rare disease space.
Desirable
- Experience in early-phase studies or investigator-led clinical trials is strongly preferred.
- Experience in rare diseases or metabolic conditions.
- Established track record of peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations.
- Keen interest in basic and translational science for medical conditions.
- Experience working in a charity, foundation, or multi-stakeholder environment.
