Job Title: Responsible Sourcing Manager - Wood & Paper
Contract : 3-6 months
Pay : TBC- Inside IR35/ Umbrella
Location: Southampton- Hybrid working- Fulltime working hours
Function: Commercial (Sustainability)
Reports to: Senior Sustainability Manager
Client : UK wide, well-known DIY and home improvement brand!

Role Purpose
Leading the responsible sourcing strategy for wood and paper across owned (1P) and marketplace (3P) ranges. Provide technical expertise on regulatory compliance, drive sustainability initiatives to protect forests and biodiversity, and collaborate internally and externally to improve supply chain standards.

Key Responsibilities
Lead delivery of wood & paper sustainability strategy, ensuring compliance with regulations (UKTR, EUTR, EUDR) and internal policies
Manage and improve processes, systems, and tools supporting responsible sourcing
Oversee FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody certification requirements
Identify and mitigate supply chain risks; escalate issues where needed
Partner with Commercial, Marketplace, and Group teams to deliver sustainability targets
Manage internal and external audits and ensure compliance readiness
Develop and deliver training to embed responsible sourcing practices
Monitor marketplace growth and align with sustainability standards
Engage with external stakeholders, industry bodies, and charities
Lead projects to implement new regulatory and policy requirements
Line manage and develop team members

Key Skills & Experience
Experience in sustainability, compliance, or regulatory roles (3+ years)
Strong knowledge of timber regulations (UKTR, EUTR, FLEGT)
Experience with FSC/PEFC certification and Chain of Custody audits
Background in retail or complex supply chains (wood/paper preferred)
Strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Proactive, structured, and solutions-focused approach

Other Requirements
Willingness to travel occasionally (including overnight)
Full driving licence preferred
