Job Description

Restructuring Lawyer – Associate (1–4 PQE)

Top International firm

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented Restructuring Associate (1–4 PQE) to join the London office of a leading international law firm with a fast-growing and highly regarded Finance practice.

This hire reflects sustained growth and increasing client demand within a dynamic, future-focused Finance team known for combining deep sector insight with strong technical expertise and commercial acumen.

The Team

The firm’s national Restructuring and Insolvency team is a substantial, well-established practice comprising 10+ Partners and 30+ specialist lawyers across the UK. The team holds panel appointments with major clearing banks and maintains strong working relationships with leading accountancy firms, insolvency practitioners and financial stakeholders.

The practice offers full-service restructuring capability across the entire spectrum of assignments, advising on complex and often cross-border matters in sectors including technology, life sciences, and high-growth industries. The wider Finance group has seen consistent growth in both revenue and market profile in recent years, with continued investment in its people and platform.

The culture is collegiate, collaborative and supportive, operating seamlessly across offices as a national framework. The firm is deeply committed to mentoring, structured training, leadership development and long-term career progression.

The Role

You will work closely with a Partner and senior members of the team on a broad range of innovative and complex finance and restructuring transactions.

Key areas of work will include:

  • Advising lenders and borrowers on venture and growth debt transactions, often multi-jurisdictional and within the tech and life sciences sectors
  • Acting on special situations and cross-border restructuring matters
  • Advising on out-of-court restructurings and work-outs, including amend-and-extend transactions, emergency funding and consensual debt-for-equity swaps
  • Providing advice on formal restructuring tools and insolvency processes, including schemes of arrangement and restructuring plans
  • Analysing capital structures and advising financial institutions on strategic investment and recovery strategies

This is a genuinely hands-on role. You will have direct client contact, draft and negotiate key documentation, and work closely with stakeholders across complex transactions. The position offers an excellent platform to develop both technically and commercially within a progressive and ambitious team.

Candidate Profile

To be considered, you will:

  • Be a UK-qualified solicitor with 1–4 years’ PQE
  • Have strong experience in restructuring and insolvency law
  • Demonstrate experience advising on debt transactions (experience acting for financial institutions is desirable)
  • Have exposure to out-of-court restructurings and restructuring tools such as schemes or restructuring plans
  • Show strong analytical capability, particularly in assessing capital structures and strategic investment considerations
  • Be commercially astute, driven and motivated to deliver outstanding client service
  • Possess excellent communication skills and the confidence to build strong internal and external relationships

The Firm

This is a firm where people are genuinely valued, supported and challenged to achieve their potential. Known for technical excellence and commercial insight, the firm advises major corporates, financial institutions and high-growth businesses across the UK and internationally.

With a strong culture of collaboration, ambition and continuous improvement, the firm invests heavily in its people and provides a platform for high-quality work alongside high-calibre colleagues.

If you are a motivated Restructuring Associate looking to join a growing, forward-thinking Finance practice in London, this represents an outstanding opportunity to take the next step in your career.
