A major UK & International freight forwarder is looking for a road Freight Clerk with Purchase Order experience to beresponsible for coordinating road freight Import and Export movements and managing purchase orders to ensure timely, cost-effective, and accurate delivery of goods. The role supports smooth supply chain operations through effective communication with suppliers, transport providers, and internal teams.ROLE: Road Freight / PO ClerkLOCATION: SouthallBASIC SALARY: £26k to £30k plus pension, bonus, overtime, etcROLE:Plan, book, and manage road freight transport for inbound and outbound shipmentsLiaise with haulage companies and freight forwarders to negotiate rates and delivery schedulesMonitor shipments and proactively resolve delivery delays or transport issuesEnsure all transport documentation is accurate and compliant (CMRs, delivery notes, consignment notes, import/ export documents)Track transport costs and support cost control initiativesProvide transport partners with precise collection and delivery instructions.Monitor incoming emails toidentify, flag, and escalate potential operational issues.Monitor and report on KPI performance to ensure operational targets are met.Support customs processes.Be willing toparticipatein anon callweekend rota to support operational continuity.Carry out general ad hoc duties to support the wider Operations team.Purchase Order ManagementCreate, process, and maintain purchase orders in the ERP or ordering systemVerify order details including pricing, quantities, and delivery datesCommunicate with suppliers to confirm order status and resolve discrepanciesMatch purchase orders with delivery notes and invoicesSkills and CompetenciesStrong understanding of road freight operations and logistics processes including customsExperience with purchase order systems and ERP softwareExcellent organisational and time-management skillsStrong attention to detail and accuracyEffective communication and negotiation skillsAbility to work under pressure and meet deadlinesKnowledge & ExperiencePrevious experience in Freight or logistics, transport coordination, or supply chain operationsExperience managing purchase orders and supplier communicationFamiliarity with UK and EU road transport regulations and customs(desirable)Worked with Cargo Wise and Lima (desirable)JBRP1_UKTJ
