Main duties of the job

As a Salaried GP at Danes Camp & The Parks Medical Centre, you may be required to work at any one of our 6 sites (Danes Camp/Rillwood/Grange Park/Blisworth/Roade/Hanslope). You will play a key role in delivering comprehensive primary care services to our patients. This contacted post is for 2 years working 8 sessions per week with the sessional rate of pay of £11,200k per session per annum. We welcome applications from newly qualified GPs as well as experienced practitioners seeking a supportive and stable salaried position.

Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing high-quality, evidence-based medical care to patients
  • Managing a varied caseload of acute, chronic, and preventative care
  • Undertaking telephone and face-to-face consultations
  • Contributing to the ongoing development of clinical services
  • Working collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team
  • Participating in clinical meetings, audits, and quality improvement activity
  • Supporting continuity of care and patient safety initiatives

There is no expectation to undertake extended hours unless by mutual agreement, and administrative workload is carefully managed to ensure a fair and realistic distribution.

Job responsibilities

The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP in delivering health services.

The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population

The provision of servicescommensuratewith the primary care contract

To clinically examine and assess patient needs from a physiological and psychological perspective and plan clinical care accordingly referring patients toother services/agenciesin a timely manner, utilisingPracticeandany otherlocal guidelines

Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance

Prioritise health problems and intervene appropriately toassistthe patient in complex, urgent or emergency situations, including initiation of effective emergency care

Effective management of long-term conditions

To support patients to adopt health promotion strategies that promote healthy lifestyles and apply principles of self-care

Processing of administrationin a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks

Review medications following theappropriate policies, NICE/local clinicalguidelinesandlocal care pathways

Maintainaccurateclinical records in conjunction with good practice,policyand guidance

Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload

Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process

Support the delivery of anticipatory care plans

Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice

Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF

Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings asrequired

Contribute effective to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training

Be aware of your duties and responsibilitiesregardingcurrent legislation and adhere topracticepolicies and procedures on SafeguardingAdultsand SafeguardingChildren

Ensure compliance with the appraisal process

Prepare and complete the revalidation processto remain fit to practice

Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team

Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies

Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement

To be an integral part of the general practice teamas well as supporting the wider network and multi-disciplinary team

There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks, this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate of equivalent
  • Full GMC Registered
  • Evident of current validation
  • Eligibility to practice in the UK independently
  • UK driving licence
  • An appreciation of the NHS landscape and relationship between individual organisations, PCNs and the commissioners
  • Knowledge of health promotion strategies
  • Experience of medicines management
  • Knowledge of public health issues in the local area
  • Understanding and knowledge of QOF and enhanced service
