Sanctions Specialist – Insurance Sector

We’re recruiting a Sanctions Specialist to join an experienced an advisory Financial Crime Team at an Insurance and Specialty broker. This is a sanctions advisory role, not a screening position and insurance sector experience is essential. Candidates without insurance experience cannot be considered.

You will provide expert sanctions advice, support business stakeholders, and contribute to key sanctions projects across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver sanctions advisory guidance across UK business areas, with a focus on complex insurance-related scenarios.
• Manage sanctions referrals, escalations and business enquiries.
• Develop subject matter expertise and draft clear internal/external reports.
• Support the maintenance and rollout of sanctions policies, procedures and related controls.
• Stay current on sanctions developments and help embed regulatory changes.
• Contribute to sanctions projects, workstreams and training initiatives.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong sanctions advisory experience
• Mandatory: Prior experience within the insurance sector (reinsurance, broking, P&C, or similar).
• Ability to interpret sanctions legislation and apply it in a practical business context.
• Confident stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills.
• Strong analytical, organisational and communication skills.
• Proactive, detail-focused and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience delivering training is an advantage.
