SAP ABAP Developer
Newcastle upon Tyne – Hybrid/ 3 days in office
Circa £60k
We are looking for a passionate SAP ABAP Developer to join a collaborative and forward-thinking technology team. In this role, you will design, develop, and support resilient, scalable, and secure SAP solutions that deliver real business value.
Working as part of a business-aligned squad, you will collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions, contributing to systems used at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Design and develop scalable, secure, and high-performing SAP solutions
Write clean, maintainable, and testable code, promoting best practices and quality standards
Collaborate with business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions
Take ownership of development work and deliver measurable impact
Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, ensuring system reliability
Conduct root cause analysis and implement improvements
Work cross-functionally with multiple teams and stakeholders
Contribute to a positive, adaptive, and collaborative team culture
Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends
Skills & Experience Required
Strong experience in ABAP development (procedural and object-oriented)
Solid knowledge of Data Dictionary
Experience with:
ALV Reporting
User Exits and BADIs
Strong understanding of application design and development principles
Knowledge of performance, scalability, and extensibility in high-volume systems
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Excellent communication and interpersonal skill
Desirable Skills & Experience
Experience working in Agile environments
Knowledge of SAP BTP and CI/CD pipelines (including automated testing)
Experience with:
SAP Forms (Adobe Forms and SmartForms)
RESTful ABAP development
CDS Views
API implementation and xehkeey SAP Gateway
SAP UI5
Familiarity with retail or high-volume transactional environments
