Job Description
SAP EWM Solution Architect - Warehouse Automation
An experienced SAP EWM Solution Architect is required to support a large-scale SAP EWM Transformation programme with a strong focus on warehouse automation and intralogistics integration .
This role requires a senior-level EWM architect who can design and lead end-to-end solutions across SAP EWM, MFS, and automated warehouse technologies , acting as the bridge between functional EWM design, technical integration, and customer-facing architecture discussions.
The successful contractor will play a key role in shaping the automation strategy, defining integration approaches, and working closely with stakeholders across IT, systems integrators, and warehouse automation vendors.
Key Responsibilities
Lead SAP EWM solution architecture for a complex warehouse automation programme
Design end-to-end SAP EWM-centric automation solutions supporting high-volume operations
Own architecture and design for EWM-integrated automation including:
Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems (AS/RS)
Goods-to-Person (G2P/G2P2) solutions
Conveyor and sortation systems
Warehouse Control Systems (WCS)
Define and design SAP EWM MFS (Material Flow System) architecture
Lead integration discussions across:
SAP EWM
MFS
PLC systems (via Middleware)
Third-party automation platforms
Translate business and operational requirements into scalable functional and technical designs
Act as a senior customer-facing architect, confidently discussing:
Solution options
Trade-offs
Integration constraints
Automation best practices
Support blueprinting, design governance, and build oversight through the delivery life cycle
Collaborate with EWM functional leads, technical teams, and external automation partners
Essential Skills & Experience
10+ years SAP EWM experience , with recent hands-on Solution Architect roles
Proven experience delivering SAP EWM in automated warehouse environments
Strong expertise in SAP EWM MFS (Material Flow System)
Demonstrable experience integrating SAP EWM with:
AS/RS
GTP/G2P solutions
Conveyor systems
WCS/PLC environments
Strong understanding of EWM-MFS-PLC integration models
Ability to design automation-led EWM solutions, not just configure EWM
Excellent stakeholder-facing skills, able to communicate complex designs clearly
Experience working on long-running transformation programmes
/Advantageous Experience
Exposure to AMRs/AGVs within SAP EWM landscapes
Experience working with large-scale intralogistics or distribution centres
Background in SAP S/4HANA EWM transformations
Prior work with system integrators or automation vendors
Experience operating in multi-vendor, multi-system environments
