SAP Solution Architect
Contract | Inside IR35 | £395 per day | Hybrid (Nottingham)

We are seeking an experienced SAP Solution Architect to provide end-to-end architectural oversight across HR/Payroll, Procurement, Finance, and Reporting workstreams on a large SAP programme.
This role will act as the overall design authority, ensuring solutions are cohesive, secure, and aligned with programme objectives, SAP best practices, and organisational standards. The successful candidate will balance business requirements with technical feasibility, integration patterns, and cloud constraints.
Key Responsibilities Architecture & Design Authority

• Own the end-to-end solution architecture across HR/Payroll, Procurement, Finance, and Reporting
• Ensure cross-workstream designs are consistent, integrated, and aligned to the target architecture
• Act as the architectural decision authority, reviewing and approving solution designs and deviations
• Ensure adherence to SAP best practices and fit-to-standard approaches

Cross-Workstream Integration

• Define and govern integration patterns across:
  
  • HR / Payroll systems
  • SAP S/4HANA Finance
  • Procurement solutions
  • Reporting and analytics platforms
• Ensure master data, transactional flows, and reporting outputs are consistent and controlled
• Work closely with Technical, Integration, Data, Security, and Infrastructure teams

Stakeholder & Programme Engagement

• Engage with programme leadership and workstream leads to translate business needs into architectural solutions
• Provide clear guidance on design options, impacts, risks, and trade-offs
• Support design authorities, governance forums, and assurance reviews
• Act as a trusted advisor to both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Reporting & Analytics Architecture

• Define the reporting and analytics strategy across workstreams
• Ensure alignment between operational, statutory, and management reporting
• Oversee integration with SAP analytics tools (e.g. Embedded Analytics, SAC) and non-SAP platforms

Governance, Risk & Quality

• Identify and manage architectural risks, dependencies, and technical debt
• Ensure non-functional requirements are met, including security, performance, scalability, and auditability
• Support audit and compliance requirements
• Ensure solution documentation is complete, accurate, and maintained

Required Experience

• Strong experience as an SAP Solution Architect on large, multi-workstream programmes
• Proven experience across Finance, Procurement, HR/Payroll, and Reporting domains
• Deep understanding of SAP S/4HANA architecture (Public Cloud and/or Hybrid)
• Strong integration architecture experience (APIs, middleware, event-driven integration)
• Experience working with SAP Activate and SAP Cloud ALM
• Ability to operate at both strategic and detailed design levels
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills

Desirable Experience

• Experience in UK public sector or regulated environments
• Knowledge of payroll integrations and third-party HR/Payroll systems
• Experience with SAP analytics solutions such as Embedded Analytics or SAP Analytics Cloud
• Experience operating within strong governance and audit frameworks

Logistics

• Contract length: Initial 3 months, with likely extension
• Rate: £395 per day (Inside IR35, PAYE)
• Location: Hybrid working, minimum 2 days per week onsite in Nottingham
• Start: Subject to BPSS clearance
