An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled and committed School Business Manager to join a welcoming and inclusive school in Rochdale. This is a key leadership role, supporting the Headteacher and Governing Body in the strategic and operational management of the school.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the school runs efficiently, safely and compliantly, allowing leaders and teachers to focus on delivering the best outcomes for pupils.
Key Responsibilities
Lead on the financial management of the school, including budget planning, monitoring, forecasting and preparing accounts
Oversee and develop administrative systems to ensure effective and efficient school operations
Line manage administrative and support staff, promoting a positive and professional working culture
Ensure compliance with relevant policies, legislation and statutory guidance, particularly in finance, HR, health & safety and data protection
Support safeguarding processes and maintain strict confidentiality at all times
Work collaboratively with senior leaders, governors and external partners
Attend meetings outside of school hours where required
Essential Qualifications & Experience
GCSE English and Maths (A*-C / 9-4) or equivalent
Level 4 qualification in a relevant discipline
Experience managing school or organisational budgets, cash handling and accounts
Experience developing and improving administrative systems
Line management experience
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection
Strong knowledge of data protection and confidentiality
Competent user of MS Word, Excel, Outlook (and similar systems)
Ability to interpret statutory guidance and contribute to policy development
Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines
Desirable
ECDL or equivalent qualification (or willingness to undertake)
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to train as an appointed person)
Experience working in a school or with children
