School Caretaker

Location: Pontefract Pay rate: £12.71 per hour Hours: 37 hours per week Contract: Temporary until August

We are currently recruiting for a reliable and hands‑on Caretaker to join a busy school in Pontefract. This is a key role in ensuring the school site remains safe, secure, and well maintained for pupils, staff, and visitors.

About the role:

Working Hours: 37 hours per week - (Split Shift) Monday - Thursday: 06:30 - 10:00 & 14:00 - 18:00 and Friday: 06:30 - 10:00 & 14:00 - 17:30 £12.71 Per hour Weekly pay

Key Responsibilities:

Opening and closing the school site General maintenance and basic repairs Health & safety checks across the premises Setting up rooms for events and school activities Monitoring the security of the site and responding to emergencies Liaising with contractors where required Ensuring outdoor areas and buildings are kept safe and presentable

The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have previous caretaking, maintenance, or site management experience (school experience desirable) Be practical, proactive, and reliable Understand health & safety requirements in a school environment Be flexible and happy to work split shifts Must have an Enhanced DBS check
