About the School

A welcoming and ambitious secondary school in Watford is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Science Teacher to join their team on a full-time, long-term basis. This role would suit a Science specialist who is keen to make an immediate impact, whether you are an experienced teacher or an Early Career Teacher (ECT) looking to develop within a supportive department.

The Role

You will be responsible for delivering engaging and well-structured Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4. The school welcomes specialists in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, with opportunities to teach your subject strength while contributing to the wider Science curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

Teach Science to KS3 and KS4 students

Deliver practical and theory-based lessons that encourage curiosity and inquiry

Plan lessons that meet the needs of learners with varying abilities

Assess, track, and report on student progress

Support students in preparation for GCSE examinations

Work collaboratively within the Science department on curriculum planning

Contribute to enrichment activities such as STEM clubs or science events

Promote a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment

The Ideal Candidate

Holds QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification (strong unqualified candidates considered)

Has experience teaching Science in a secondary school setting

Demonstrates strong subject knowledge and enthusiasm for science education

Uses a creative and student-centred teaching approach

Maintains high expectations and effective behaviour management

Has an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or is willing to apply
