The Business Development Manager role is responsible for establishing and growing Arbikie’s footprint across Scotland. The role focuses on premium and independent On Trade and Specialist Retail customers, driving visibility and distribution within influential hospitality venues and retailers.

Working closely with the UK Sales Manager, London sales team and marketing function, the position ensures Arbikie’s field-to-bottle story and premium credentials are consistently represented across Scotland, our leading market.


Key Responsibilities

Sales & Account Management

  • Manage existing and prospective accounts across the Scottish On-Trade and Specialist Retail sectors.
  • Drive new business opportunities aligned with Arbikie’s strategic priorities and brand positioning.
  • Deliver exceptional account service and support to ensure sustained growth and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the UK Sales Manager to execute sales plans, promotional activity, and local activations.
  • Collaborate with the UK Sales Manager and Global BA on events planning across Scotland, including trade events, activations, trainings and barrel top tastings.
  • Maintain accurate reporting on account performance, opportunities, and market trends.

Trade Engagement & Brand Activation

  • Execute tastings, training sessions, and events to build brand understanding and advocacy.
  • Work with the Global Brand Ambassador to deliver brand experiences in key accounts and at trade events.
  • Support the launch of new products and brand campaigns within the Scottish market.
  • Represent Arbikie at relevant trade shows, networking events, and consumer-facing activations, UK wide with the opportunity for international travel when required.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Liaise with Marketing to align regional brand activity with national and global strategies.
  • Provide insight and feedback on competitor activity, customer trends, and emerging opportunities.
  • Collaborate with the wider sales team to ensure consistent commercial execution and brand representation.
  • Act as a brand custodian, ensuring all activity reflects Arbikie’s premium and sustainable credentials.

Candidate Profile

Experience and Commercial Capabilities

·        Proven experience in business development, sales, account management.

·        Demonstrated ability of identifying new business opportunities and converting into real sales.

·        Demonstrated ability to nurture long-term relationships.

·        Experience with delivering against commercial targets and contributing to revenue growth.

·        Confident or willing to present, train and represent a brand in various consumer and trade environments, with the ability to adapt communication style to different audiences.

·        Strong planning and prioritisation skills.

·        Commercially minded and interested in market trends, whilst translating into opportunities.


The Business Development Manager will be central to establishing Arbikie’s presence in one of the world’s most influential drinks markets. Through close engagement with premium On Trade and Specialist Retail partners, this role will champion Arbikie’s innovative, sustainable, and luxury credentials while driving commercial growth. The BDM will act as a key connector between the brand and the Scottish on-trade community, bringing Arbikie’s story to life through meaningful relationships, exceptional service, and brand experiences that reflect the quality and integrity of our single estate spirits.
