Fixed term, flexible contract
Min 25 hours per week
£12.61 - £13.53 per hour (this will rise in-line with the National Minimum Wage). In addition to this, pay will rise from base rate upon gaining Qualified Instructor status (qualified in 3 out 4 core NGB's plus D1+E).
Staff accommodation is available at a rate of £69.83 per week

Founded in 1986, YHA Edale Activity Centre is a well-established activity provider in the heart of the Peak District National Park, located in an inspirational setting nestled on the shoulder of Kinder Scout. We deliver adventurous activities to residential groups year-round, working with a broad range of clients. As a not-for-profit organisation, the YHA funds breaks for groups from diverse backgrounds, in line with our charitable objectives.

Seasonal Instructors will join our experienced and motivated team in delivering adventurous activity packages. Youll deliver activities in accordance with safety requirements, learning outcomes, qualitative benchmarks and YHA policies, providing a positive experience to all YHA customers. Contributing both locally and nationally, to the wider strategy, vision, values and mission of YHA in reaching out to young people.

What will you be doing as a Seasonal Instructor?
Seasonal Instructors work with schools, youth, adult and family groups, including participants with disabilities and additional needs, delivering bespoke programmes of on-site and off-site activities. Seasonal Instructors are trained to deliver water, rock and rope-based activities.
We are a friendly team and will provide the training required for you to undertake the role. However, there is plenty for you to get stuck into from day one, including:
Adhering to YHA standards, risk assessments and relevant external regulations. You will balance the need for safety with creating optimal learning outcomes through challenging and adventurous activities.
Tailoring activities to meet the needs of diverse groups. By reviewing activities and encouraging feedback from groups and leaders you will promote engagement, service improvements and business retention.
Ensuring all equipment is used correctly, logged, recorded and maintained to the highest standard, reporting any faults or damage.
What Skills and Experience do you need to be a Seasonal Instructor?
Seasonal Instructors contribute to life-changing experiences for our guests by delivering adventurous activity packages.
To do this we are looking for the following qualities in our Seasonal Instructors:
Proven group experience (voluntary or paid) in adventurous outdoor activity delivery.
A valid 16 Hour Outdoor First Aid certificate.
A car driving license held for a minimum of two years.
Qualifications:
Minimum Paddlesport Instructor and PSRC
And ideally training/assessment in at least one of the qualifications listed below.
Local Cave Leader
Rock Climbing Instructor
Paddlesport Leader (or equivalent)
A D1 entitlement and HML/ML qualification is advantageous.
To achieve a higher level of instructor capabilities and deployment, we will support instructors in ongoing training and development opportunities within work time, including funded NGB qualification courses.
