English Teacher – SEMH Independent School
Location: Chorley, Lancashire
Contract: 12-week temporary to permanent

We are seeking a dedicated and resilient English Teacher to join a small, independent SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) school. This is an excellent opportunity for a passionate educator who is committed to making a meaningful impact on the lives of young people who require additional support to engage with education.
The school provides a nurturing and structured environment for students with SEMH needs, focusing on both academic progress and personal development. Class sizes are small, allowing for a more personalised and supportive teaching approach.
The Role:
Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons tailored to students with SEMH needs
Support students in developing literacy skills, confidence, and emotional regulation
Build strong, positive relationships to promote engagement and trust
Work collaboratively with support staff and leadership to implement individual learning plans
Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment
The Ideal Candidate Will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
Have experience teaching English at secondary level
Demonstrate strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
Have a genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH needs
Be adaptable, patient, and able to think creatively in challenging situations
Experience within an SEN or alternative provision setting is desirable but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
