About the Role

New Chapter Tuition is recruiting experienced SEMH Outreach Tutors / SEN Tutors to deliver 1:1 personalised tuition to children and young people across Croydon.

You will support learners with SEMH, SEND, Autism, ADHD, anxiety, trauma, and behavioural needs, many of whom are currently out of mainstream education or accessing alternative provision.

Tuition takes place in family homes, libraries, community venues, and learning hubs.

This role is ideal for tutors, teachers, mentors, and alternative provision staff seeking flexible work with meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 SEMH and SEN tuition (Primary and Secondary)

*

Support disengaged learners and those with complex needs

*

Plan personalised learning programmes aligned with EHCPs and support plans

*

Use trauma-informed, nurture-based, and restorative approaches

*

Promote emotional regulation, confidence, and academic progress

*

Build strong relationships with students and families

*

Track attendance, progress, and outcomes

*

Complete session reports and safeguarding records

Essential Requirements

*

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH / SEND needs

*

Background in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, youth work, or alternative provision

*

Good knowledge of the UK National Curriculum

*

Strong behaviour management and de-escalation skills

*

Engaging, patient, and resilient approach

*

Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)

*

Right to work in the UK
