SEMH Teacher - Camden - Specialist provision based in primary

New Yesterday

This is an exciting opportunity to make a difference to children who have SEMH needs in a specialist provision based in an excellent mainstream primary school. My client is a specialist therapeutic and educational placement for children who have struggled to succeed in mainstream school because of social, emotional and mental health needs. Children attending the Satellite are on short-term placements from their current mainstream school. The purpose of the Satellite is to provide intensive support to meet the social, emotional, mental health and academic needs of vulnerable children, so that they are able to re-engage in learning and cope with the demands of a mainstream setting. This provision aims to provide a stimulating and secure learning environment for pupils and to give each pupil a positive experience of school.
We are seeking an experienced teacher to work as part of this dynamic and innovative team. Within this key role you will plan and teach stimulating and challenging lessons in flexible and creative ways in order to engage and motivate a group of primary-aged children with social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs. You will have responsibility for the day-to-day functioning of the Satellite alongside the Satellite SEMH Inclusion Lead including supervising Child Support Workers.
You will be based at a Primary School in Camden and work closely with specialist teachers from and collaborate with the wider multidisciplinary team, as well as liaising with leadership and staff in mainstream schools. We are looking for a skilled and experienced primary school practitioner, with recent experience of teaching classes in primary mainstream or special schools and who has experience of working with children with SEMH needs.
The successful candidate will have had experience of working with pupils with SEMH in a mainstream setting and experience of using effective strategies to support children to be successful in school. The role will require candidates to provide individual and small group support for children both in the satellite and in their mainstream school. This post is subject to QTS status.
