Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, or Youth Worker looking for a rewarding role supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs?

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a friendly and inclusive school in the NG13 area seeking a Full-Time SEMH Teaching Assistant to join their team as soon as possible. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, offering the chance to secure a long-term, permanent role in a supportive school environment.

This position is ideal for someone passionate about supporting pupils who require additional emotional and behavioural support to succeed in school.

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Responsibilities

Provide 1:1 support and small group interventions for pupils with SEMH needs

Support behaviour management and emotional regulation strategies

Assist teachers in delivering engaging and structured learning activities

Build positive relationships with pupils to support confidence and wellbeing

Work closely with teachers, SENCO, and pastoral staff

Help maintain a safe, supportive, and structured classroom environment

SEMH Teaching Assistant - Requirements

Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, behavioural needs, or additional needs

Background in education, youth work, care, support work, or mental health support is desirable

Calm, patient, and resilient approach to behaviour management

Strong communication and relationship-building skills

Ability to adapt to different pupil needs

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
