About the Role
Empowering Learning are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting children with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time role working closely with children who may display behaviours that challenge, supporting them to access learning and develop positive relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Provide consistent, tailored support to children with SEMH needs
Use trauma-informed practices to promote emotional regulation and positive behaviour
Support learning both in and out of the classroom
Manage and respond calmly to behaviours that challenge
Build strong, trusting relationships with children, staff and parents/carers
Work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
Support the child's social, emotional and academic developmentEssential Requirements
Experience working with children with SEMH needs
A strong understanding of trauma-informed approaches
High levels of resilience, patience and emotional intelligence
Ability to manage challenging behaviour in a calm and consistent manner
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Ability to work full time, Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 4:30pm
An Enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to purchase oneDesirable
Relevant qualifications (e.g. Teaching Assistant, SEND, or childcare-related)
Experience working in a school or specialist settingWe Offer
