Academics are recruiting on behalf of an Alternative Provision in Southampton who due to its success and ongoing growth, are looking to appoint a number of staff to join them after Easter and September 2026.

The are seeking an experienced SEMH Tutor to work with students with social emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) and other complex needs such as Autism.

They are looking for passionate and committed SEMH Tutor's who enjoy working in an Alternative Provision, working with students who benefit from a highly personalised approach to learning. They are open to Teachers, TA's and anyone in between with a passion for supporting young people with complex needs.

You will be working with 4-6 max pupils at a time which allows you to tailor the lessons to meet their needs, and be able to build strong relationships
You must be able to deliver or support the teaching and learning of functional skills in Maths and English
You must be able to support students with a range of needs, helping them to re-engage with education.
You must be able to take on a couple of subjects, or be confident in supporting learners with various subjects

The suitable SEMH Tutor must possess a calm, empathetic and trauma-informed approach to teaching and learning. Have strong behaviour management skills and the experience or desire to deliver functional skills. Training and support is provided for those willing to learn and develop.
