Job Description

A well-established and highly regarded firm of Chartered Accountants based in Harrogate is seeking a motivated and career-driven Semi Senior Accountant to join its growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual looking to broaden their experience across accounts, tax, audit, and digital transformation initiatives including Making Tax Digital (MTD).
The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting a diverse portfolio of clients, ranging from owner-managed businesses to growing SMEs across various sectors. The role offers varied and hands-on exposure, providing an excellent platform for professional development.
Key responsibilities will include:
  • Preparation of statutory accounts for sole traders, partnerships, and limited companies
  • Assisting with audit assignments from planning through to completion
  • Preparation of personal and corporate tax returns
  • Supporting clients with bookkeeping and management accounts
  • Assisting clients in preparing for and transitioning to Making Tax Digital (MTD)
  • Liaising directly with clients and building strong professional relationships
  • Supporting senior team members with ad hoc advisory projects
The Ideal Candidate The firm is looking for an individual who:
  • Is AAT qualified or ACA/ACCA part-qualified
  • Has experience working within a UK accountancy practice
  • Possesses strong technical knowledge across accounts and tax
  • Is confident communicating with clients
  • Is proactive, organised, and keen to develop professionally
Experience with cloud accounting software (such as Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage) and an understanding of MTD requirements would be advantageous.
