Job Title: 1:1 Teaching Assistant (Year 2 - Complex Behaviour Needs) Location: Wakefield Salary: GBP100 per day Contract Type: Long term About the Role: We are seeking a dedicated, patient, and resilient 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 2 pupil with complex behavioural needs. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a childs educational and emotional development within a supportive and nurturing school environment. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to provide consistent, tailored support that enables the pupil to access learning and develop positive social and emotional skills. Key Responsibilities: · Provide 1:1 support for a pupil with complex behavioural needs, both in and out of the classroom · Implement personalised strategies to support emotional regulation and engagement in learning · Build a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil to promote a sense of safety and stability · Support the pupil during transitions, playtimes, and less structured parts of the day · Use de-escalation techniques and follow agreed behaviour support plans · Assist in adapting learning materials to meet the pupils individual needs · Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and external agencies · Record and report on progress, behaviour, and wellbeing The Ideal Candidate Will Have: · Experience working with children with complex behavioural needs (e.g. SEMH, ASD, or trauma-related behaviours) · A calm, empathetic, and consistent approach · Strong behaviour management skills and resilience under pressure · The ability to remain patient and solution-focused in challenging situations · Good communication and teamwork skills · A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs · Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, or equivalent) are desirable but not essential We Offer: · A supportive and inclusive school community · Ongoing training and professional development · Opportunities to work closely with experienced SEN professionals · A rewarding role where you can make a real impact every day
