SEN Primary Teacher Barnsley
2 Days Old
Role: Specialist SEN Primary Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Contract: Full-time, term-time only (8:30 am - 3:30 pm)
Salary: £140 - £190 per day (including holiday pay)
Do you possess the clinical patience of a SEN specialist and the creativity of a primary educator? We are looking for a skilled teacher to bridge the gap between academic learning and emotional regulation at a supportive primary school.
The Impact You'll Have:
*
Deliver Targeted Therapeutic Interventions: Move away from whole-class teaching to focus on precision planning. You will design and lead bespoke 1:1 and small-group sessions using the Thrive Approach, specifically tailored to support pupils with SEN, trauma, or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
*
Integrate SEN Strategies Across the Setting: Act as a specialist advisor, collaborating with class teachers to adapt the environment and curriculum. You will translate complex attachment-aware theories into practical, low-arousal strategies that support sensory needs and communication challenges.
You Will Thrive in This Role If You Have:
*
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant experience in a SEN or Primary setting supporting vulnerable learners.
*
A strong grasp of the graduated approach, with the ability to write and implement individual education plans that target specific SEMH and communication goals.
*
First-hand experience in de-escalation, supporting pupils with autism, anxiety, or pathological demand avoidance (PDA) profiles.
*
An empathetic, unmoveable calm and the resilience to manage complex emotional behaviours without taking them personally.
*
An enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one) and a unwavering commitment to safeguarding.
The Opportunity: Be the Foundation for Learning
If you are a primary teacher with a SEN skillset looking to use every tool in your box to foster connection and confidence, we want to meet you.
