To further strengthen our SEND provision, we are seeking three dedicated Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistants to join our team.

Role Overview

The SEN Teaching Assistants will work closely with classroom teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff to provide tailored support for pupils with a variety of needs, including but not limited to:

• Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC)
• Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Speech, Language, and Communication Needs (SLCN)
• ADHD
• Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD)
• Physical or sensory needs

You will help deliver individualised learning plans, provide 1:1 or small-group support, and contribute to creating a positive, safe, and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1:1 or small-group support to pupils with SEND.
• Follow Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and EHCPs to deliver targeted interventions.
• Support pupils’ academic, social, and emotional development.
• Assist with behaviour regulation and promote positive behaviour strategies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, therapists, and outside agencies.
• Adapt classroom activities and resources to meet pupils' needs.
• Monitor and record pupil progress, sharing observations with the SENCO and class teacher.
• Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment.
• Support with personal care where required (training provided).

Person Specification

Essential:

• Experience supporting children or young people with SEND.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy, patience, and a nurturing approach.
• Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
• Flexibility and willingness to support across different year groups.
• Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

• Experience working within a school setting.
• Knowledge of specific SEN strategies (e.g., PECS, visual timetables, sensory regulation).
• Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training). xbpsjku
