Are you a patient, creative and resilient educator looking to make a meaningful impact in a specialist autism provision? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join a highly supportive residential and day setting in Dorset, working with children and young people with autism, Asperger’s and associated communication needs.

The Role
You will be delivering adapted English and Maths lessons to small groups of students with autism and Asperger’s, supported by experienced Teaching Assistants.
Your responsibilities will include:
Planning and delivering differentiated, autism‑friendly lessons
Using visual supports, structured routines and communication‑supportive strategies
Building trusting, consistent relationships with learners
Supporting emotional regulation and reducing anxiety triggers
Creating a safe, predictable and nurturing classroom environment
Working closely with therapy teams and SEN staff to meet individual needs
Encouraging independence, social communication and life‑skills development
What We’re Looking For
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or strong SEN teaching experience
Experience working with autistic learners (desirable but not essential)
A calm, patient and empathetic approach
Strong understanding of autism‑specific strategies such as TEACCH, visual timetables, sensory regulation and structured teaching
Excellent communication and a commitment to child‑centred practice
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
