This setting provides tailored education for pupils with a range of needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties. The focus of the setting is holistic development, life skills, and personalised learning pathways.
As a SEN Teacher, you'll deliver adapted learning based lessons, working closely with support staff and external professionals to meet each student's unique needs.
Candidate Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver tailored lessons that meet the individual needs of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) Assess students' abilities and monitor progress, adapting strategies to support development Create Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and set achievable learning targets Work closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and other professionals to support pupils Foster an inclusive, supportive, and safe classroom environment Use a variety of teaching methods, including sensory and practical activities, to engage learners Communicate regularly with parents/carers about student progress and wellbeing Support pupils' social, emotional, and behavioural development alongside academic learning
Candidate Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification A relevant degree (e.g. Education, Psychology, or a subject specialism) Experience working with children or young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) Strong understanding of different learning difficulties (e.g. autism, ADHD, dyslexia) Knowledge of SEN legislation and frameworks (such as the SEND Code of Practice in the UK) Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse learning needs Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills Experience collaborating with parents, support staff, and external professionals (e.g. speech and language therapists)
