The Role
An esteemed specialist school in Watford is on the lookout for an experienced and compassionate SEN Teacher to join their dedicated team on a full-time, temp-to-perm basis starting in January 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity for a passionate educator eager to make a meaningful impact by supporting students with autism and associated needs, including speech and language difficulties, sensory processing challenges, and behavioural regulation.

You’ll be joining a school that takes pride in offering a highly supportive and well-resourced environment. With small class sizes and a strong ratio of staff to students, this school provides personalised learning experiences that empower each student to reach their potential, supported by a collaborative team of professionals.

Key Responsibilities

Design and deliver tailored lessons that meet the diverse needs of students with complex SEN, particularly those with autism and related conditions.

Create and maintain structured routines while utilising visual supports to enhance communication and learning.

Work closely with Teaching Assistants (TAs), therapists, and families to ensure a coordinated approach to student support.

Track and report on individual progress, ensuring alignment with EHCP outcomes and specific learning goals.

Use evidence-based strategies to promote emotional regulation, independence, and self-management in students.

Foster a safe, welcoming, and inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported.

Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) and contribute to the overall development of the school community.

About You

While Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is preferred, it’s not essential.

Experience working with children or young people with SEN, ideally in a specialist or alternative education setting.

A solid understanding of autism and related developmental needs.

A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to teaching and supporting students.

Strong communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

Willing to undergo (or already possess) an Enhanced DBS check via the Update Service.
