Teaching Personnel are seeking an enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated SEND Teacher to deliver high‑quality teaching and learning within a Key Stage 3 pre‑formal sensory class in a specialist secondary setting. This is a full‑time role available immediately and continuing until the end of the Summer Term.
You will be teaching a class of six students aged 11–19, all of whom communicate non‑verbally, with one student using a small number of key words. The class is supported by three experienced members of staff, with whom you will work closely to ensure highly personalised, meaningful and nurturing learning experiences.
Although students are of secondary age, they follow a curriculum aligned with EYFS / KS1 developmental level, with a strong emphasis on engagement, communication, sensory integration, independence and emotional regulation. For this reason, both primary and secondary trained teachers are encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver pre‑formal, sensory‑led lessons tailored to the needs of pupils with SLD, PMLD and ASD
Use communication‑focused approaches such as Intensive Interaction, sensory communication, and AAC
Create a safe, predictable, and sensory‑supportive learning environment
Lead and guide the class team, ensuring consistency and best practice in behaviour support and engagement
Work collaboratively with therapists and wider professionals to meet EHCP outcomes
Track pupil progress through engagement indicators, communication attempts, and personalised learning goals
Develop strong relationships with families and contribute to a positive, team‑focused culture
About the Setting
The provision supports secondary‑aged pupils with:

Students attend one of two specialist sites, offering adapted environments designed to meet a diverse range of sensory and therapeutic needs. All learners receive individualised learning programmes, enabling staff to tailor teaching precisely to each young person’s developmental level.
