About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with complex and profound needs in a specialist school environment. Many of the children require tailored communication support and benefit from sensory-based learning approaches.

You may support pupils with:

  • Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)
  • Sensory impairments, including visual and hearing needs
  • Non-verbal communication methods such as PECS, Makaton, AAC, and sensory cues

Working closely with teachers, therapists, and care staff, you will help pupils engage with learning through structured routines, sensory experiences, and personalised support-ensuring every child feels safe, understood, and valued.

About You

We are seeking someone who:

  • Has experience supporting individuals with PMLD, SLD, or complex needs (in education, care, or health settings)
  • Demonstrates a calm, nurturing, and empathetic approach
  • Is confident supporting personal care and physical needs
  • Has a strong commitment to safeguarding and inclusive education
  • Holds relevant SEN qualifications or school-based experience (desirable, but not essential)
