Our specialist Wakefield school site is seeking dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join their growing team. The site provides high-quality education, therapeutic support, and structured routines for pupils with a range of additional needs, ensuring every learner is given the opportunity to succeed. Pupils at this setting typically present with: Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs Communication and Interaction needs Complex learning needs The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant at the site, you will: Support pupils in lessons and during targeted interventions. Help deliver personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs. Assist with emotional regulation, behaviour support, and daily routines. Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils to encourage engagement and progress. Work closely with teachers, therapists, and wider support teams to ensure a consistent, nurturing approach. What We re Looking For Experience working with SEN learners particularly those with ASC, SEMH, and communication difficulties (essential). A calm, nurturing, and resilient nature. Ability to adapt to changing needs and think proactively. Strong teamwork and communication skills. Any additional training such as Team Teach, Trauma-Informed Practice, Autism-specialist courses, Makaton, or de-escalation training is highly beneficial.
