Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (Secondary & Post-16)
Area: Rochdale, Greater Manchester Start Date: Monday 20th April 2026 Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £105-£140 per day (dependent on experience and responsibilities) Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am - 3:30pm
About the Setting:
A well-regarded specialist setting in Rochdale is looking to welcome committed Teaching Assistants to support both secondary-aged pupils and post-16 learners. The provision offers a mix of on-site education and off-site pathways, helping students prepare for life beyond school and build independence as they move into adulthood.
You'll be supporting young people aged 11-19 with a broad range of additional needs, including autism, learning disabilities, physical impairments, and medical conditions, within a progressive and supportive environment.
Secondary & Post-16 Teaching Assistant Role and Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one and small group support to pupils across secondary and post-16 classes. Assist teachers in delivering personalised learning programmes and ensuring pupils can access the curriculum effectively. Support the development of independence, life skills, and social engagement. Help implement individual education plans (IEPs) and EHCP targets. Work closely with the school team, families, and external agencies to ensure a nurturing and inclusive environment. Secondary & Post-16 Teaching Assistant - What We're Looking For:
Experience working with young people with SEND, ideally in a school, residential, or community setting. A calm, empathetic, and proactive approach to managing behaviour Strong communication and relationship-building skills A commitment to helping pupils achieve independence and life success. A relevant qualification in support, care, or education is desirable but not essential Secondary & Post-16 Teaching Assistant - To Be Eligible You Must:
