SEN Teaching Assistant – Primary School

We are seeking a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with special educational needs in a mainstream primary school in B17, Birmingham. This is a permanent position offering the chance to make a real difference in children’s learning and development.

The Role

Support pupils with SEN in the classroom, both one-to-one and in small groups

Assist teachers in planning and delivering differentiated lessons

Promote inclusion, independence, and positive learning behaviours

Monitor and report on pupils’ progress, supporting interventions where necessary

Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCO, and other professionals

Help maintain a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate

Qualified SEN Teaching Assistant (or equivalent)

Proven track record of working with children with SEN in a mainstream setting

Strong understanding of different SEN needs and effective support strategies

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Patient, adaptable, and committed to supporting all learners

Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
