Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant (1:1 – Year 5)

Teach Now is recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive three-form entry primary school in Enfield for a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a Year 5 pupil.
The pupil has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and Type 1 diabetes and will require consistent support through to the end of Year 6. This is a permanent, full-time role and a fantastic opportunity for an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting medical needs alongside academic and emotional development.
The school has approximately 690 pupils and benefits from extensive outdoor space, including a mini farm, sports areas, and an outdoor gym, creating a stimulating and supportive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 5 pupil with Type 1 diabetes
• Monitor blood sugar levels and support daily diabetic care in line with medical guidance
• Maintain accurate records and contribute to reports linked to the pupil’s EHCP
• Support learning across the curriculum, ensuring the pupil remains fully included in class activities
• Promote independence, confidence, and emotional wellbeing
• Liaise closely with the class teacher, SENCo, and parents/carers
• Ensure the pupil’s safety, health, and wellbeing at all times
Requirements
To be eligible for this role, applicants must have:
• Proven experience supporting children with Type 1 diabetes in a school setting
• Experience working as a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
• Confidence in monitoring blood sugars and managing medical routines
• A calm, nurturing, and child-centred approach
• Availability to commit long-term, ideally until the pupil completes Year 6

Salary dependent on experience and qualifications. Higher rates are reserved for candidates with substantial experience and/or relevant training such a recognised Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent). Pay is determined in line with school expectations and Agency Worker Regulations (AWR), where applicable.
