A primary school in Coventry is looking to appoint a knowledgeable and compassionate Teaching Assistant with specialist experience in supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC). This is an excellent opportunity to join a dedicated team committed to providing high-quality, inclusive education for primary-aged children.

About the Role

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting pupils with autism to access learning, develop independence, and build confidence within the classroom. You will work closely with teaching staff to adapt learning activities, implement individual support plans, and promote positive engagement throughout the school day.

Key responsibilities include:

Delivering tailored 1:1 and small group support

Supporting pupils' communication, emotional regulation, and social development

Applying structured strategies and visual approaches to enhance learning

Assisting with the implementation of EHCP targets

Promoting a calm, consistent, and supportive classroom environment

Liaising with teachers, the SENCO, and external agencies where required

Candidate Profile

We are seeking someone who:

Has proven experience supporting primary-aged children with autism

Demonstrates a clear understanding of inclusive practice and SEND provision

Is confident using strategies to support sensory needs and behaviour regulation

Is patient, adaptable, and proactive

Holds a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification (Level 2 or above desirable)

Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection responsibilities
