What you’ll be doing as a Specialist SEN TA In this rewarding role, you’ll work closely with pupils who have a range of additional needs, which may include: Autism and communication differences Global developmental delay or learning difficulties SEMH (social, emotional and mental health) needs Sensory processing challenges Limited or non-verbal communication Physical or mobility needs Your responsibilities may involve: Providing 1:1 support tailored to each pupil’s learning and care plan Assisting small groups during structured tasks, interventions or therapy-based activities Using visual supports, communication systems and personalised learning approaches Helping pupils regulate emotions using calm, trauma-informed strategies Encouraging participation in lessons, routines and social interactions Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, therapists and pastoral teams Creating a safe, nurturing and predictable environment where every child feels valued What we’re looking for You do not need previous school-based SEN experience to apply. We welcome applicants from: Care or residential work Mental health or support work Nursing Youth work or mentoring Sports coaching or personal training Health and social care We are seeking individuals who are: Patient, empathetic and emotionally resilient Confident supporting pupils with communication, sensory or behavioural needs Able to work independently and as part of a supportive team Reliable, compassionate and committed to helping children achieve their potential Keen to take on training and develop specialist SEN skills Willing to obtain an Enhanced DBS if not already in place Why join TalentBoard in Chester?
