Job Overview
A well-established and supportive primary SEN school in Hayes is seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team on a permanent, full-time basis. The school provides specialist education for primary-aged children with a range of Special Educational Needs, including SEMH, ASD, and additional learning needs.
This role is ideal for an experienced Teaching Assistant or SEN Support Worker who is passionate about helping young children access education, develop emotionally, and build strong foundations for learning.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small-group support for primary school pupils with SEN and additional needs.
Support children with emotional regulation, behaviour management, and engagement in learning activities.
Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons tailored to individual learning plans and EHCP targets.
Promote positive behaviour, independence, and social development.
Build nurturing, professional relationships with pupils to support wellbeing and confidence.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCO, therapists, and wider support staff.
Record observations and contribute to monitoring pupil progress and interventions.
Maintain safeguarding standards and ensure a safe, inclusive, and structured learning environment.Essential Criteria:
Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or Learning Support Assistant.
Experience supporting primary-aged children with SEN, including SEMH, ASD, or complex needs.
Knowledge of behaviour management and de-escalation strategies appropriate for younger learners.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
A calm, patient, and resilient approach to supporting children with additional needs.
A clear commitment to safeguarding and child welfare.Desirable Criteria:
Experience working in a primary SEN school or specialist provision.
Relevant qualifications (e.g. CACHE Level 2/3, Supporting Teaching and Learning).
Familiarity with trauma-informed or therapeutic approaches.Why Join?
