SEN Teaching Assistant – Full-Time (Temporary)\n\nTeach Now is looking for a committed and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a vibrant secondary school in Brent. This is an excellent opportunity for someone passionate about inclusion and supporting young people with a range of additional learning needs across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.\n\nAbout the Role\n\nYou will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and pastoral team to empower students with SEND to access the curriculum, develop confidence, and make measurable progress. This is a varied, meaningful role that requires patience, adaptability and strong communication skills.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nIn-Class Support\n\n• Provide tailored assistance to students to help them participate fully in lessons\n\n• Break down tasks, simplify instructions and support with literacy and numeracy\n\n• Promote focus, engagement and positive learning behaviours\n\nIndividual & Group Interventions\n\nDeliver or support interventions including:\n\n• Social skills development\n\n• Emotional regulation programmes\n\n• Reading, writing and comprehension support\n\n• ASD-focused strategies\n\n• Track and report progress to the SENCO\n\nSupport for Additional Needs\n\n• Assist students with autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia, MLD and SEMH needs\n• Provide sensory breaks, emotional reassurance and structured scaffolding\n• Support with personal care or mobility if required\n\nBehaviour & Emotional Support\n\n• Use positive behaviour management aligned with school policy\n• Help students manage anxiety or emotional dysregulation\n• Build strong relationships to promote resilience and independence\n\nSafeguarding & Pastoral Care\n\n• Maintain accurate notes, reporting concerns promptly\n• Support students during transitions and unstructured times\n• Uphold confidentiality and safeguarding procedures at all times\n\nCollaboration\n\n• Work closely with class teachers to understand lesson goals and differentiation needs\n• Liaise with SENCO, therapists, pastoral leads and external professionals\n• Provide feedback on student progress and emerging needs\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\nA patient, reliable and student-centred individual who is committed to fostering progress, wellbeing and independence in young people with SEND.\n\nIf you’re ready to make a real difference in a supportive secondary school environment, we’d love to hear from you.\n\nWhy work via Teach Now?\n\nTeach-Now are a widely recognised, education recruitment company.
