SEN Teaching Assistants – Full Time Location: Sheffield Start Date: After the Easter break (earlier start possible for the right candidate) Are you passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of young people with Special Educational Needs? We are recruiting dedicated SEN Teaching Assistants to join a highly respected specialist secondary setting in Sheffield that supports students with a wide range of additional needs. The Role As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will: Support students with a range of SEN needs in both classroom and small-group settings Build positive and trusting relationships to promote engagement and progress Adapt learning materials and approaches to meet individual needs Work closely with teachers and wider support teams to maintain a calm, structured, and inclusive learning environment Help promote independence, emotional regulation, and communication skills Experience Required We are seeking individuals with proven experience supporting children or young people with the types of needs catered for at the school, such as: Autism and social communication needs Moderate or complex learning needs Social, emotional, or behavioural challenges Speech and language or sensory needs Experience in specialist or mainstream settings is welcome. Desirable Training / Skills Additional training is beneficial and may include: Autism awareness Team-Teach or positive behaviour support approaches Communication tools (e.g., PECS, Makaton) Understanding of sensory processing needs If you haven’t completed these yet, the school actively supports professional development.
