About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join a specialist education setting supporting children and young people with additional needs. The school is dedicated to ensuring every pupil can reach their full potential, regardless of their starting point, within a nurturing and inclusive environment.

You will work as part of a skilled and supportive team, delivering tailored learning activities and supporting students with a range of needs, including autism and complex learning difficulties.

Key Responsibilities

* Deliver learning activities and lessons under the guidance of a qualified teacher
* Support pupils with special educational needs, including communication and sensory needs
* Implement strategies such as visual timetables and structured interventions
* Promote positive behaviour and engagement in learning
* Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and support teams

Essential Requirements

* HLTA status or equivalent Level 4 qualification
* Proven experience supporting children or young people with SEND, particularly autism and/or severe learning difficulties
* Confidence in leading learning activities
* Strong understanding of SEND strategies and interventions

Desirable Skills

* Training in behaviour management approaches (e.g. Team Teach)
* Experience with communication systems such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures within education settings
