SEND Operations Manager - Senior Leadership Team - Heywood Academy

The Trustees are looking to recruit a SEND Operations Manager to join the Senior Leadership Team at Heywood Academy, a newly opened special school under the New Bridge Multi‑Academy Trust (NBMAT). The role is full‑time (36 hrs 40 mins per week) and starts as soon as possible. The salary is set at NJC Scale Points 32‑35 (£42,839‑£46,142 per annum full‑time equivalent), with an actual range of £36,639‑£39,464 per annum, and eligibility for the Trust TOIL scheme, Holiday Saturday Fund and other benefits.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement systems and procedures that deliver SEND operational excellence across the school, ensuring educational aims are met.
Manage day‑to‑day functions of key support services, including admissions, EHCP, family and student liaison, staff liaison and medication responsibilities, to enhance effectiveness and learning outcomes.
Contribute to legal processes for admissions, EHCP and financial management in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
Ensure the whole school operates within its legislative framework and complies with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Partner with the SMB and MAT Central Teams to support the implementation of central MAT functions such as compliance and admission matters.
Represent the school in safeguarding and wellbeing discussions, maintaining the Child Protection policy and safeguarding procedures.
Build and maintain collaborative relationships with staff, students, families and community agencies.
Support the professional development of staff and maintain a person‑centred approach in all interactions.
Qualifications and Requirements
Experience working with young people with SEND, ASC and/or SLCN.
A clear commitment to understanding the challenges that can act as barriers to learning, and a willingness to foster inclusive learning opportunities.
Strong listening, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage families and other stakeholders in a non‑judgemental manner.
Organisational, initiative‑driven and proactive approach to professional development.
Team‑working ability, working effectively with the entire New Bridge team.
Valid right to work in the UK, satisfactory DBS check and pre‑employment checks will be required.
