A Pastoral Care Support Worker plays a key role in supporting students’ social, emotional, and overall wellbeing. They help young people navigate challenges both in and out of school—through one-on-one support, group work, and by being a trusted, consistent presence. Whether addressing mental health, behavior, friendships, or major life transitions, they build strong relationships to keep students engaged, confident, and ready to thrive.
Your New Role:
Offer daily pastoral and emotional support to help students feel seen, heard, and valued.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils who may be at risk ofdisengagement.
Support students’ reintegration into structured yet individualized learning routines after periods of absence or disruption.
Monitor attendance, behaviours, and emotional wellbeing, flagging concerns to senior staff/safeguarding lead promptly
You will be:
Experienced working with SEND children/young people in education, youth work, pastoral, or care settings
A calm, empathetic, and non-judgemental approach to behaviour and emotional support
Understanding of trauma-informed practice and the unique needs of learners with SEMH challenges
